Description

Both in the constellation Cygnus, the Swan close to the brightest star Deneb in the constellation.
Names stems from resemblence to North America and a Pelican but in my imagination it looks like a Xenomorhp eats a fat Pelican.
 Due to the dec axis guiding problems I  borrowed the guide camera from the big scope, a ASI290MM and there was actually a significant improvement in the guiding stability, but the strange travels in dec axis was still present, but a lot better.
I decided to do some work on the mount to identify the the source of the problems and I found some inertia in the dec axis , but I had no problems balancing the scope in thedec axis.
I dismantled the dec axis gear from the housing and washed the worm gear with alcohol and gave it some new grease, just ordinary ball bearing grease. The bearings looked just fine so I carefully pulled off the rubber shields and  gave them a drop of high performance motor oil and put them back int the housing after a while in the freezer at -20°C.
I tightened the locking nut at the end of the dec shaft very carefully to avoid inertia, put everything back in the right place, and with a lot smoother dec axis, it was absolutely impossible to balance the scope in the dec axis.
The problem is actually the weight of the ASIAIR Pro on one side of the scope  which is heavier than the EAF on the other side, and the inertia made it impossible to spot the problem.
I taped a brass ring on the EAF as a counterweight to the ASIAIR Pro and achieved perfect balance in all positions.
